Kodak Dock

If I touch my Kodak v530 while it is on the dock, it has the tendency to move slightly and enough to disconnect the camera with the dock. Kodak, please include a cable to attach the camera directly with the computer. And remember, your screwed-in latch for the battery is stupid.

Link for Konica Minolta

The British Guardian has a short piece on this topic.

F6 and FM10

Nikon will still make the FM10 (manual, entry level film camera) and the F6 (top film camera).

Konica Minolta Out

Konica Minolta announced they will no longer be making cameras. They are selling their high end digital camera business to Sony. This will be interesting because Sony makes the sensors that go into different makes of cameras. Will they have a massive cost advantage now?

Kodak battery

I am not impressed by the battery performance of the v530. It is an ultrasmall camera by today's standrard. That means the battery is also small and probably limits its shooting life. The pain in recharging is compounded by the need to unscrew the latch to get to the battery. This means you need a small screwdriver with you to change batteries on the road. What a pain! To charge the battery, the Kodak Klik 7002 battery needs to be in the camera and you can charge it with the camera in the dock. I ordered a Belkin brand battery as a back-up. It costs $12 less than the Kodak, and I am guessing the life will be comparable. A charger for out-of-camera batteries is $35. Zounds!

Dear Kodak

Dear Kodak,

I have these nice, thin blue gloves that I use when shooting cold weather. I live in Wisconsin so I use them a lot. My problem is I have trouble turning off the flash on the v530 while wearing them. I sometimes end up turning off the camera instead of the flash. How about fixing thta in the future.

By the way, I would be happy to review the new v570!

Nikon to reduce film camera production

Nikon has announced they will reduce the number of film cameras they make to two. I am guessing at least one is a professional camera. They will also stop making lenses for film cameras, but they will make lenses for their digital SLRs.
